Implementation Concepts
NetWatch transforms the thinking behind video surveillance. This new technology enables existing IT infrastructure to be employed as the recording and transmission medium for digital CCTV surveillance, giving a minimum installation cost solution.
NetWatch utilises minimal network bandwidth, only requiring bandwidth during viewing or Archive download of stored images. The distributed nature of the system enables video from many sites to be viewed and reviewed simultaneously.
Distributing the recorded information to numerous locations has two main advantages, the first being a single recorder failure does not constitute a major loss of data, the second is that network bandwidth requirements are greatly reduced. A centralised recording system having two main component parts, the network and the server, could suffer total data loss by the failure of either of these parts. System availability is a complex subject and must be considered by any system designer.
